The running was okay, but I may have to invest in some DEPENDS!!!
This is not a blog for the faint of heart. Yes, you read right, Depends.
Off I went last night to get my run on - starting VERY slowly so that I won’t injure myself. I was thinking of Nancy as I held my core strong - was really letting my abs support me. But, try as I may the floodgates could not be held shut.
Now, this is one reason I don’t run right now - my kegel muscles are weak. I was going to what I liked to call “cooter therapy” for them at the beginning of my pregnancy. It was demoralizing, but something that needed to be done. Normally, I don’t leak unless I run, jump, or have a really big cough or sneeze. And, honestly, I don’t need depends. But, the tiny leaks and the inability to run/jump with my son were getting too much for me last year so I talked to my doc and got the referral for the therapy. Pregnancy is famous for creating this problem so I just marched on knowing that I was attempting to repair a dam with scotch tape. Now that baby is out, things have been pretty good…UNTIL….Running - yowza! What was I thinking not wearing a pad? I had forgotten!!! Well, rather than run home after a little spill over, I had to just let go of feeling like a 4 year old who wet herself and I just kept going. I decided that if i was going to do a Triathlon and maybe even a Marathon eventually I may just have to pee on myself occasionally. LOL Luckily, it wasn’t that much…
Really, though, I will keep working on my kegel exercises as they are part of your core and part of what supports your whole trunk. While they get stronger, I WILL invest in some pantyliners!!!
hey congrats on keeping going. When you’re out running like that, no one knows you’ve leaked except yourself.
Has your doctor referred you to a physiotherapist? I used to work with a physio who specialised in post-partum incontinence. She worked miracles with woman who thought they’d never be the same again after having their baby.
thanks for the story. If your not feeling it, when the slightest thing happens its an excuse to run home and forget the workout. This shows you know what, it happened..time to finish the workout!! Good for you girl! Keep doing those Kegel exercises-they will help ya out!
Debbie
Ahhh yes…just one more of the joys of motherhood!!!
So proud of you for running on anyway…I would have been running from bush to bush to hide and get back home…hahaha! Great work!!
Psssst… ahem *wispering* Try the Poise antyliners. They are the bomb! Not too thick, not too thin. I’ve had this same problem since I gave birth to Colton, and now that I’ve reached my middle age years, perimenopause, all that crap, they have proven to be a Godsend for me.
High Fivers for finishing that run lady!
Hugggggggggggggs,
Shan
Well, there may not be a ’secret’ to weight loss, but there is one to this problem. I can tell you it works, I don’t have any problem in that area, and you know how ‘old’ I am. Now don’t be embarrassed, it’s sex. A good orgasm beats kegels every time. I’m so thankful for my outspoken doctor! (he even said it works with or without a partner) So try for 2 to 3 times a week, it sure works for me.

Oh girl , I feel ya here. After my stint on the treadmill last night I had to throw the sweats in the washer, grab a bath, and find some new clothes. You aren’t alone here, lol.
Hey, ladies. Keep up those kegels and there are all sorts of things that can be done to help this problem. It is NOT a normal part of aging and can be fixed. There are meds and surgeries even. Talk with your doctor. I know, embarrassing, but hey, it’ll help. But, yeah. No one knows but you. Wear liners, kegel it up, and keep on running. I just want all of you to know there are many options!
OMG Cooter Therapy you are so funny. Hope those keegles tighten everything up for you…lol
Oh my, I so admire you for keeping going! I have this problem when I laugh too hard.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!1
I have some POISE left over from Shanna…….want some?
HEHEHEEEEE!!!! You are something else girl!
Good job on running! I know it can be hard when the “accidents” happen but good for you that you kept going!
Hey, pee happens! Way to go in continuing to run. You are so cool by the way. What a great blog. I bet there are so many ladies who feel better. Happy Kegeling
LOL! I am sorry I am laughing at you….and I sincerely hope you are laughing so I can laugh WITH you! Ok…don’t feel bad….you couldn’t help it….do you know how many people pee on themselves during a race to keep warm? I never thought I had it in me, but trust me….when the going gets tough, the tough just gotta let it go baby! LOL!!
