deep sigh…

that;s what came out of me when o tried to think of a title - a big ole deep sigh. i am sorry to say that i am not getting on board with my better self to better myself. i, instead, have spent the last two days snacking on cookie dough. today i threw it out (after eating over half the pack on the way home from store.) then i got home and threw the other 2 packs away, too. Yes, you read correctly, 3 packs in total. WAY INDULGENT! Clearly not working toward the weight loss goal. Thing is yesterday i almost wrote the blog - ” i have to lose 5 pounds by friday and i think i can do it.” i was feeling determined, energized, awakened again to the realities of what i need to do, inspired by my buddies, the whole thing and then the afternoon hits and i fall and fail and chow. today i started again very well and energized and motivated and eating well and walking ALL morning and then i chowed. The afternoons kill me. I am tired even though I am not losing too much sleep. It is better than it was when Austin was a baby and didn’t sleep so i think i am underestimating the sleep deficit. But by early afternoon I am a bit of a zombie and just a bit worn out. We are on teh move alot in the morning as well. By the way, can i tell you how cute this little snuggly button of a baby is? OMG SO CUTE!! But i digress…i am a mess in the eats department…I will keep trying./ Half a day of good eats is better than no part of the day :)

Hey Debbie great job getting rid of the last of the cookie dough.

When you’re tired its the toughest time to be UP and feel motivated and to stay on plan.

Afternoons are tough for me too.

Maybe it would help to have an afternoon plan in place.
Veggies cut up to munch on, a nice cold flavored water, maybe have a treat set aside just for the afternoon. Something you can look forward to having without being too overindulgent.

    Hang in there
its just a hump you need to get over
let us help you over it k?

    Big big hugs
    Lori

It does happen. We know this. But maybe you just need a little you time to feel mellow. Just 15 minutes with you and a nice cup of tea… sipping and loving it, loving you. What is done is done and what you do now is everything.

I will read the Zen of Eating again if you do. ;)

I want to get about 30% protein from a mostly vegetarian diet. Do you thinik this is possible eating only a little yogurt from time to time. (health issues with dairy) You are my go to veg bud. ;) Take care Debbie. You are such an awesome mom… *hugs*

The old devil binge snuck up on you girlfriend. Well you knocked him right down right? the temptation of cookie dough is now gone.

So I think you’ve done well. Remember all your hormones are still trying to get straightened out since the baby. Soooooooooooo….you are strong, determined and one special lady.

So I know you can do this Debbie!!!

We do all love you, and were here for you 100%
    Hugs
    Jane

ohmygosh…I wasn’t gonna tell anyone this but last week I bought some cookie dough (just to make cookies for my niece and nephew)and….you guessed it, ate the whole thing myself. I felt like crap over it. Of course it was delicious, but I was so ashamed. So, I applaud you for throwing yours out! Happy to say, I am back on track.

You can do it Debbie! You threw out the cookie dough, so obviously your mind is getting where it needs to be. This may sound so “not like weight loss” advice..but maybe you really are needing some extra sleep. Maybe a short nap in the afternoon is just what you need. Just a thought. Hang in there girl!

By the way…I just know that is a cute baby you get to snuggle!! :)

  12. ar2 @ December 4th, 2008

I think renee had a good idea of a nap if you can squeeze it in in the afternoon. I don’t know how old your older child is, but maybe if he’s in school that’s a possibility before he gets home? I know I have a lot more trouble with eating when I am tired. I tend try to “wake myself up” by eating sugar and drinking caffiene. It never works, then I’m just tired and full of crappy food. :(

Well…looks like I’m late getting here. But I love our buddies because they already gave you some wonderful advice. I know exactly where you are coming from. Your snack time is in the afternoon. Mine was usually around 11:30 at night. AFTER I have been asleep for 2 hours. YIKES! Maybe you are dehydrated? Following Linda’s advice here is another idea for an afternoon snack…one or even two (on a highly active day) of high quality dark chocolate. Then you satisfy your sweet tooth with the anti-oxident benefit to boot. :)

glad you threw out that cookie dough… we dont have that over here, so I dont get the facination with it….!

If both yourself and baby are awake in the afternoon, could you get yourself out of the house during the “danger time” when you’re most likely to mindlessly snack?

And, you kinda sound a bit deflated in your blog… are you getting any time for yourself? Even just for a really loooooooooong soak in a hot, scented bath or something. Whatever you need to do to make you feel good. You deserve it.

Be proud you threw the rest of the temptation away! It would have been easy to say “oh well, damage is done” and eat the rest.

Have you ever tried keeping a food diary? It helps me because I don’t want to write down that I ate crap all day long, and if you are honest with it, it is a great tool.

    I understand completely!

WANTING it is NOT our problem, DOING it is, but you know Debbie, I count you amongst my greates allies, because I have learned TONS from you. I am also SURE that it’s only a matter of time before you start losing again! I am certain of it, I have never doubted you…so give yourself a break—tomorrow is a new day, a new opportunity. As for today, I commend you for dumping the cookie dough, I should have done that with the chips and everything else in the house—-you are farther along on this road than you realize!!
