on no, i found doughnuts…
excuse my language, but SHIT! i discovered doughnuts recently. actually, i remember the day well, it was the day my son was born. the friend who was watching my older son brought him to us at the hospital and had a bag of farm fresh doughnuts in her hand. the kids, friends, hubby left me that night at the hospital but the bag of doughnuts remained. i kept missing meal time, but there in that little white bag 6 doughnuts resided. they helped me through the night. - wowee!! were they good. can’t say i’ve ever wanted a doughnut before, but now i can’t get them off my mind. every farm we go to for apple picking or hay rides i have to sample those little round descendents of heaven! and, i have to say, there are only a few worth the calories, but man are they ever! ugh! i tend to get into these things like this. I’ll have a drink i always get for a few months - like now it’s ice coffee from this one place. then i’ll have my favorite food thing, too, like scones but onloy from this other place. well, doughnuts are taking the lead. thing is, i have to go out to these farms to get them, which helps. one of the farms is a grocery store and i do need a few things, see where i’m going with this? i’m becoming obsessed with doughnuts. great - just what i need a new thing to love
i a m going to have to work this one out…they are so incredibly fattening - fried cake! could you get any unhealthier?
this is not going to help me get back down to pre-pregnancy weight of 158 and then get down to goal weight around 140. i have set a minigoal of 170. hope to have that by week after next. another goal - to be able to get my engagement ring off - i’m still too poofy from pregnany - i’m trying not to get clausterphobic about it being stuck on, but soon…
wow, i AM rambling!
off to take my vitamin and drink some water. how about you??
Okay, Debbie dear, my advice to you? Have a donut! Only one and only once a week. (Preferably after Friday weigh ins, lol.) Seriously, if you love it, use it as a reward for getting through the week. And just remember, whatever goes into your mouth goes into the mouth of that little one of yours as well. (((((Deb))))
Rambling is good! Oh no on the donuts. They are a KILLER but oh so good aren’t they. My favorite are the custard filled ones. Now I think that is even worse than just a donut. Glad to hear you are doing well with the baby and you sound super happy! =0) Hang in there. It took me a while to get into the swing of thing too.
Donuts…oh gosh I remember going to the apple orchard in upstate NY and you could watch them make the apple cider donuts and then eat them fresh & hot! LOL Well now that I live in VA we only have Krispy Kreme and I can usually avoid those pretty well…once in a while I need a blueberry cake one from 7-11 w/my cappucino….I’m not really helping am I? What I meant to say is- I agree w/Anj- I would not make it without my one day off a week to indulge in whatever I want- so eat your donuts on that day and work it off the next day!! You can do it!
exactly - it’s those apple cider donuts!
oh, cider and donuts….
oh my…I shouldnt have read this
Its hard to find good, fried donuts now. Everything has to be healthy and baked…that was said in a high whiny voice…heehee.
Good luck on resisting or not OVERindulging on those little sin cakes
That’s ok, almost every Monday the pharmaceutical rep (who ironically is promoting a blood pressure drug which will go unnamed) brings in boxes of fresh Duncan Donuts. I HATE IT SO MUCH. I usually split on and I didn’t want to even look at them today but a long john was calling me so I split it in half and ate it in like 20 seconds. I know, they are so good. I hate them.

Oh, you made my mouth water!! Yikes! I agree with Anj, ONE a week after wiegh in, good luck! Hugs, Kama

Yummy…gosh they are my favorites too. Have craved them ever since I started trying to lose weight LOL!!!!
Hey Debbie, I agree, go ahead and have one occasionally. It won’t hurt that much. If we take everything away that we like, then I think we tend to stop eating healthy.
We too have a couple apple orchards with those yummy hot donuts, made fresh right in front of you.
Its our Fall tradition, that we go at least twice for donuts
Hows the baby???? How are you recuperating?
Hugs
Jane
Too quote Homer Simpson (as I drool) “Mmmmmmm dooooooghnuts”
I’m so glad we don’t have those apple cider donuts out here…they sound far too delicious. We don’t even have Krispy Kremes anymore, thank God…I had such a weakness for them!
There are certain things that we shouldn’t talk about here at Buddyslim. Politics, religion and DONUTS!! I haven’t had the desire for a donut for over two years. The last one I had my son bought for me at the bakery when we were on the way to my doctor’s appointment. (my back was so bad I couldn’t drive myself) When I stepped on the scale in the dr’s office I weighed 206 lbs!!! and I blamed it on that @@$$#%@ donut. Haven’t had one since. Haven’t even wanted one, until I read this blog. Thanks a lot!

I have to admit, I don’t like donuts! But I do like other snack foods, so I can relate.
When I was younger and my family bought donuts from the store, because I did not like them, I said we could only buy 3 (one for each of us! lol)
So perhaps you could do that, pick a small number of donuts, like 3 when you buy them, then don’t buy more for that week! You can’t eat what you don’t own, and this works for me because I tend to go to the store infrequently.
I do have a weakness for a snack food (M&Ms) so sometimes I have them. But I only allow myself to have some when they are in my house, and if I have calories left for them/and or have eaten lots of fruit and veggies in the day, and feel I did a great job (and still have extra calories)
And still I try not to stock my house full of them, so it is not an everyday thing…
Good luck!
I never even thought about donuts until Tim Hortons and yes they are deadly. Enjoy I say once in awhile if you want to. Saying no to them of course will make you want them even more.
I am rereading The Zen of Eating just because I am going through some of the old mind games with food.
I thought of you when I was about to go for a walk today. But when I took the garbage out and was tired I came back in. Soon my energy will be back. Thanks for sharing.
Look out 170, here Debbie comes!
I am reaching for the ever elusive 160. Grief what was I crabbing about 150…. I would kill for 160. lol Anyways….
Have a great night.
OMG!! You sound just like me! I go through phases too where I will pick one food and eat it all the time—thank God I don’t have anything at the moment otherwise it would derail me!! I am sorry for you my friend—but as you well know, this too shall pass!! Hang tight!! How are those cute babies of yours?
oh no…
my son and I went out for doughnuts last night…lol
They really are the devil! I had a couple and they made me sick to my stomach…when will I ever learn???
Today I was falling in love with water again…wash away the yuckies…the doughnuts left behind!
Ahhhh the doughnut….never a big fan…until I discovered (through a well meaning friend as well)Dunkin Doughnuts Kreme Delight Doughnut….that is my Saturday cheat food of choice…it is topped topped with chocolate frosting with a dollop of butter cream icing on the top and inside it is loaded with butter cream….not a good thing to think about when Saturday is still 4 days away…..
