eat more and do less

this was advice for my friend from her midwife. Now, granted she is 34 weeks pregnant, but, wow, wouldn’t that be great advice to get? See, thing is - she’s a skinny one to start and she just can’t be bothered with eating too much. She’s been gaining appropriate weight in the pregnancy until recently when she just hasn’t been able to put the pounds on. She’s not a crazy exerciser either but she isĀ  in motion a fair amount and has little interest in food (can you imagine?). While she tries to put on weight, i am having NO PROBLEM in that area and in fact am really gaining too much at a time now…I’ve just got 10 weeks or so to go and they say one pound a week, but it’s more like 5 it seems. Yes, the eating is out of control at times.

Hearing about my friend’s advice I started paying attention again to what she doing today at playgroup - her and the other skinny pregnant friend there. (Yes, half of the group is pregnant - pretty funny!)

So this is a long overdue second installment of hanging out with the skinny friends (who happen to be pregnant):

at playgroup theses two were on their feet the whole time, not sitting on the floor, a chair or wherever.

they grazed a little on the snacks but neither had the chocolate muffins. both had fruit first - excitedly - and then a few carrot chips.

there was no attitude about the eating it just seemed they weren’t terribly hungry and therefore didn’t eat.

both drank sweet tea.

i’ve seen then both eat the chocolates and muffins and the like, but with the heat the appetites are hard to come by. Unlike me who will eat no matter what - they didn’t when they weren’t hungry.

i’ve seen both have pizza for lunch - they eat one big slice or a half of a small pizza.

so the food is regular stuff it’s just the quantities that vary.

both do eat and should probably eat moreĀ  - somewhere in the middle between them and me lies the healthy eating.

just thought is was kind of fascinating…

My daughter is 7 weeks today. She is eating everything and can be hungry 1/2 hour later.. Guess we won’t have the under pounds problem with her. LOL

Maybe they were both terribly hungry and neither wanted to show the other one they were! Maybe they are in secret competition! lol Kidding. ;)

yeah…I remember being facinated by my son’s eating habits when he was small. He just ate when he was hungry and had no problem throwing food away! It is facinating when you are an un-natural eater…trying to learn again!
